Several dozen people marched through Downtown Smithfield and gathered outside the Johnston County Courthouse to raise awareness about human trafficking and to unite our community regardless of background, race, religion or political views.
Organizers said they wanted the September 19th event to bring awareness that pedophilia and human trafficking is very real, but not spoken about. It happens in our back yards, across the country and across the world. This is not something that can be normalized and pushed to the side.
Ashley Scott is the creator of the Official Global Peach March. “If not us, then who, and if not now, then when? All children matter, and if we can all be united to save the future generation, the world will be a much better place.”
Leah Lane put together the Smithfield Children’s March.
