No one was injured during an early morning robbery at a Smithfield convenience store. Around 2:21am Thursday, Smithfield Police said a lone suspect entered the Sunoco at 1716 East Market Street near Interstate 95. The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. The robber was described as a white male in his 50’s, 5 foot 5, 130 pounds, with a short slender build. He fled in a dark color newer model passenger car.
No customers were in the store at the time. The clerk was not injured.
