Seven special events were approved at the June 2nd Smithfield Town Council meeting and will take place in the Smithfield community.
On June 13th, AnSelmo Hernandez and Rey de Reyes Free Will Baptist Church will hold a fellowship event at Talton Park. The event will last from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will contain music as well as announcements.
On June 14th, the Greater Vision Worship Center/ Church of God of Prophecy will be conducting an outdoor, non-profit Spring Fling. The event will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Church located at 720 Second Avenue.
On June 15th, the Johnston County Department of Social Services is holding an annual Elder Abuse Awareness Walk. The event will take place at the Town Amphitheater and greenway between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
On June 18th-22nd, the Greater Vision Worship Center/ Church of God of Prophecy will be holding their annual Tent Revival. The revival will last from7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each night and will consist of preaching and music. The revival will be held at the church, located at 720 Second Avenue.
On July 18th, Praise in the Park, an annual non-denominational event, will be held at the Town Amphitheater. Smithfield and surrounding area churches are invited to attend and participate in sharing God’s Word and praising God through music.
On July 25th, the public is invited to Fun in the Park, an annual event by the East Smithfield Improvement Organization. Fun in the Park will take place at Smith Collins Park between the 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. It will include games, a bounce house, a water slide, and free food.
And on July 25th, the George Currie of the Mid-Town Reunion Group will have a Neighborhood Reunion between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The reunion will be held on private properties along 7th Street. South 7th Street, between East Johnston Street and East Church Street, will be closed during the event.
