The Smithfield Town Council unanimously approved the purchase of $92,683 in equipment and vehicles during their February 2021 meeting.
A bid was awarded to Capital Chevrolet of Wake Forest for the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup and a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup for the Fire Department. The two trucks will cost $62,104. They will replace a 2006 Ford Explorer and 2001 Ford F-150. The vehicles came in under budget.
A John Deere Gator 6×4 utility vehicle was purchased for the Parks & Recreation Department. It will be used by the maintenance division. A bid of $10,103 was awarded to James River Equipment of Asheboro, the low bidder.
The Recreation & Aquatics Center will be getting new office furniture after a bid of $8,196 was awarded to Office Value.
Knightdale Tractor was the low bidder for a Scag Turf Tiger mower for the Parks & Recreation Department. The mower will cost $12,280.
