Smithfield Jewelry Store Featured In National Magazine Article

A locally-owned business which received national exposure after their new store opened in 2015 is getting even more national attention.

Evans Jewelers, a family owned business, is featured in the February 2017 edition of INSTORE.  The article, entitled “A Genuine Show of Southern Charm”

Written by Eileen McClelland, the article goes into detail about former Mayor Daniel Evans plans for downtown revitalization and renovating a 100 year old warehouse into the home of his popular jewelry store business.

“(T)here’s nothing around here like this in the way of a store,” Evans said in the article. “We get people coming to see us from a 50-mile radius at least. They hear about our jewelry store and come into town to check us out.”

Evans is following in the footsteps of his father, Wilbert Evans, who was in the jewelry business 44 years.  In 2001, Daniel Evans opened his own store.

INSTORE, “The Magazine for the American Jewelry Store Owner,” named Evans Jewelers one of ‘America’s Coolest’ independent jewelry retailers during a 2016 contest.  The stores were judged by a panel of retail experts on business practices, history, online presence, interior decor and curb appeal.

In July 2016, the local jeweler was recognized by Southern Jewelry News for creating a “destination” store at 320 East Market Street in Downtown Smithfield. The report highlighted that every time you visit the store a member of the Evans family is there to greet you. In addition to jewelry, the store also features wine and cigars.
