Smithfield Lowe’s Volunteers Help Revitalize Four Oaks Park

FOUR OAKS, N.C. – Barbour’s Grove Park in Four Oaks received a two-day makeover thanks to volunteers from the Smithfield Lowe’s store.

Employees worked at the park Aug. 25 and 26 as part of the Lowe’s Hometowns community improvement program.

The work included pressure washing the gazebo, stage, sidewalks and park benches, along with repainting the gazebo, stage handrails and benches.

Volunteers also removed dead bushes, cleaned landscaped areas and added new plants and flowers around the park.

“These improvements have made a tremendous difference at Barbour’s Grove Park,” said Joan Pritchett, executive director of the Four Oaks Chamber Foundation. “This park is an important gathering place for our community.”

The volunteer team was led by Greg Wells and included Ron Stanley, Rita Joyner, Jessica Adamson, Joanna Armenakyan, Jordan Countryman, Debbie Sotla, Amanda Bryant and Kim Brown.

The employees work at the Lowe’s store on North Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield.

Lowe’s Hometowns is the company’s community revitalization program, which supports improvement projects through funding and employee volunteer work.

The Four Oaks Chamber Foundation said the project was intended to refresh one of the town’s public gathering spaces and improve the appearance of the park for residents and visitors.
