The Town of Smithfield has appointed Sheila Bryant to the Historic Properties Commission. Bryant, from White Oak Drive, helped renovate and restore three historic properties in the York Chester neighborhood in Gastonia, NC. She is also on the Downtown Revitalization Committee in Gaston County. This will be Bryant’s first term on the Historic Properties Commission.
The Town also appointed Gary Stewart to his first term on the Appearance Commission. Stewart, who lives on South Fifth Street, operates a tax preparation service. Stewart said in his application he wants to help improve the appearance of the town.
For those interesting in serving, the Town currently has vacancies on the Appearance Commission, Historic Properties Commission, Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, and Planning Board – ETJ Alternate Member.
