Smithfield Man Killed In Goldsboro Shooting
GOLDSBORO, N.C. – A 42-year-old Smithfield man was killed in a shooting Thursday night in Wayne County.
Goldsboro Police responded around 8:38 p.m. to the 100 block of Vanderbilt Circle after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating possible gunfire.
While officers were en route, additional information was received that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found Edward Duncan Jr., 42, of Smithfield, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UNC Health Wayne, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators with the department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene and are leading the investigation.
No additional details, including possible suspects or a motive, had been released as of Friday.
