Smithfield Officers Promoted

The Smithfield Police Department has promoted two officers.

Mayor John Lampe (left) administered the new oaths to Officers Brian O’Branovich (center) and David Johnson (right) on Tuesday night.

O’Branovich was promoted to lieutenant of the C-Team patrol squad.  Johnson was promoted to patrol sergeant of the B-Team squad.

Lt. O’Branovich has been a member of the Smithfield Police Department for the last 10 years. Sergeant Johnson has been on the force 11 years.

O’Branovich was previously a Master Police Officer, Housing Authority Officer, General Investigator, and Patrol Sergeant.

Johnson had been a Master Police Officer, holding the position of General Investigator for the last seven years.

After being given their oaths, their spouses pinned new badges on their patrol uniforms. The officers were then congratulated on their promotions by members of the Smithfield Town Council.
