The Town of Smithfield and the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department has been monitoring the situation concerning the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak which has now been declared a pandemic. As more testing is performed, more positive cases are announced the situation is rapidly changing.
As of Friday, March 13, the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department is suspending Youth Baseball, Youth Softball, Fun and Fellowship Softball and The Spring Sharks Swim programs until April 6th to coincide with the NCHSAA and Johnston County Schools Athletics protocol. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make additional decisions necessary in the best interest to the health of our community, according to a statement released by Gary Johnson, Director of the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department.
