SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department will be adding three used vehicles to their fleet of patrol cars.
Police Chief Pete Hedrick received approval from the Smithfield Town Council to spend $40,000 to purchase three used 2018 Ford Taurus law enforcement vehicles. The vehicles were previously used by other law enforcement agencies and all have low mileage.
The vehicles will be purchased from Asia Motors Inc. in Melrose Park, Illinois.
Chief Hedrick said the three cars are all police package vehicles. They will be driven by police detectives.
