Smithfield Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 23 year-old man. At 9:20am Wednesday, police responded to Crestview Drive near Michael Lane for a report of shots being fired. Officers were unable to locate a suspect or victim.
About 10 minutes later, police were dispatched to Johnston Medical Center after Jalen Barnes showed up at the emergency room with gunshot wounds. Barnes was transferred to another hospital for additional treatment. His injuries were reported to be non-life threatening.
Police are looking for a white passenger car possibly driven by the suspect. A photo of the vehicle was released by police.
