Smithfield Police Release Description Of Homicide Suspect  

UPDATE 6:00PM – Smithfield Police are searching for a dark-skinned Hispanic male, approximately 5 foot 3 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with a “full scruffy beard”. The suspect was last seen wearing a black hat with red writing on it, a black windbreaker and blue jeans.

Police investigators do not believe the homicide was a random act. However, the suspect in this matter should be considered dangerous.

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are treating the death of a man found this morning (Thursday) inside a residence as a homicide.

Police and EMS were dispatched at 9:48AM to an unknown type call at 1104 Forbes Drive off S. Brightleaf Boulevard.  First responders found the body of 39 year-old David Callejas Arroyo inside his home.

Police have not said how Arroyo died.


Shortly after police arrived, officers requested a Clayton Police K-9 respond to the scene. The K-9 left the location less than an hour later.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to enter the residence as part of their investigation.  Officers said they expect to remain on the scene for much of the day.

No additional details have been released.
