The Town of Smithfield received three separate 2015 Public Power of Excellent Awards this week.
Chief Operation Officer of Electricities Roy Jones attended the Smithfield Town Council meeting on Nov. 10th to present the three awards.
One was for Energy Efficiency, recognizing the towns efforts with energy audits, energy education and weatherization program. The second award was for Financial Stability. The town was singled out for helping customers in need and the implementation of new technology within the electric system.
The third and final honor was the Service Excellence Award. Smithfield was recognized for communicating with customers, addressing emergency communications and community public power celebrations.
