Smithfield Salary Study Approved
SMITHFIELD – At the request of Town Manager Mike Scott, the Smithfield town council has approved a new salary study. The board authorized the expenditure of $27,500.
Mr. Scott said the study should be completed sometime in June.
Councilman Travis Scott made the motion to approve the request. It was seconded by Councilman David Barbour and approved in a 5-to-0 vote.

What a waste of money. Town management should do their jobs and amke their own decision on this.
Hire a summer accounting intern, and task them to do a survey of a towns the size of Smithfield in this region. Compare classes and salaries to like positions with the town. There, you got a study. Enter all data on a spreadsheet where it can be updated in 5 years.
$5000 vs $25,000 and a way to do it in the future.
