Smithfield Shooting Suspect Found In Motel Room

A man wanted for a June 3rd shooting in the parking lot of Pine Needles Shopping Center at 721 N. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield was arrested during a drug search warrant at a Selma motel room.

On Wednesday, June 19th, Selma and Smithfield Police located 21 year-old McKinley Vick III of E. Holt Street, Smithfield inside a room at the Econo Lodge on Outlet Center Drive in Selma.

Selma Police conducted a search warrant on the motel room and the suspect’s SUV parked outside and reportedly found a total of 7.1 ounces of marijuana and $1,400 in cash.

Vick was wanted for the shooting of 20 year-old Jeffrey Williams.  Williams was shot once at Pine Needles but was then driven to the parking lot at Lowes Home Improvement at 1230 N. Brightleaf Boulevard where police found the victim.

Vick was charged by Smithfield Police with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, and discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle.

Vick and his girlfriend, 19 year-old Adriana Gabriela Quintero of the 8400 block of Strickland’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks were arrested by Selma Police on several drug violations including possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
