Town of Smithfield Utility Customers are urged to be cautious if receiving a telephone call or other communication regarding their utility bills. During this time of the national pandemic, scammers are contacting utility customers in an effort to steal their information and their money.
The Town of Smithfield will not use the telephone to contact you regarding your utility bill unless you have initiated the call with the Town and provided your phone number.
If you receive an unsolicited call do not listen to the scammer’s instructions. The call may come from a live person or from a computer system/robo type call. Please hang up immediately and contact Smithfield customer service at 919-934-2116, extension 1101. If after hours, you may contact the Smithfield Police Department at 919-934-2121.
