DUNN – A man wanted for the murder of his 83 year-old father was arrested Thursday night in southern Johnston County. On October 28th, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at 375 Chicken Farm Road near Dunn. Deputies found the elderly victim, Joe Brewington, with obvious signs of trauma to his body. He was rushed to Betsy Johnson Hospital.
An investigation revealed the suspect in the assault was his 62 year-old son, Quincy Randall Brewington of the same address. Warrants were obtained charging him with assault inflicting serious bodily injury. He was arrested on November 2nd and released on a $5,000 bond.
On November 5th, Joe Brewington died from injuries sustained during the assault. Harnett County sheriff detectives obtained warrants for the upgraded charge of murder.
Quincy Brewington was located on Lori Lane just off Highway 96 South in Johnston County last night and arrested. He was transported to the Harnett County Jail where he is being held without bond.
A motive for the homicide has not been disclosed.
