A teenager was arrested Wednesday night after being stopped for speeding. Around 8:20 pm, a Johnston County deputy was on patrol on Cornwallis Road conducting radar enforcement when they spotted a black BMW reportedly traveling 90 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The officer turned around to pursue the speeding vehicle and caught up with the car at Cornwallis and Josephine Road as the car reportedly slammed on brakes at the intersection. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Josephine Road.
The driver, Brian Patrick Tingler, 17, of Chaney Drive, Garner was handcuffed and brought before a magistrate where he was charged with speeding and reckless driving. He was released on a $500 bond.
A passenger in the vehicle reportedly told the deputy they had pleaded with Tingler to slow down prior to being spotted by the officer.
