Spider Blamed For Two Car Accident

A spider is partially to blame for causing a two car accident Sunday afternoon.  The wreck was reported around 12:30pm on Covered Bridge Road near Archer Lodge.

A spider had reportedly lowered itself down onto the face of the driver of a white passenger car causing him to take his eyes off the roadway. His small car crossed the center line, clipping the left-rear side of the oncoming black Lexus SUV.

The Lexus lost the rear wheel and overturned off the roadway into a yard. The passenger car went into a ditch and stopped against a driveway culvert.

Johnston County EMS treated two people in the car and four occupants in the Lexus for minor injuries but no one was transported to the hospital.

The Archer Lodge Fire Department also responded. The NC Highway Patrol is still investigating.
