SMITHFIELD – The manager of a Smithfield business arrived at work Tuesday morning and found a forklift in the parking lot. The manager of the Brightleaf Flea Market, at 2320 S. Brightleaf Boulevard, phoned police who determined the $20,000 forklift had been stolen overnight from a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Craven County.
Thieves stole the forklift along with concrete and other items from the Lowe’s store in New Bern. Hours later, surveillance video shows a rollback truck dropping off the stolen forklift in the flea market parking lot in Smithfield. Police believe it was discarded at a random location.
No further information was released. No arrests have been made.
