Stolen Truck Recovered

FOUR OAKS – A stolen pickup truck was recovered during a routine traffic stop in the Four Oaks city limits. At 12:17am Saturday, Sept. 14, a Johnston County deputy sheriff was traveling on US 301 and got behind a black 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup. The license plate was obscured on the vehicle and the deputy attempted to stop the driver for the violation.

The driver initially tried to evade the officer but stopped in the parking lot of a closed business, near the Keen Road intersection.

The deputy determined the truck had been reported stolen in Sampson County and arrested the driver.

Joshua Cameron Gross, age 36, of Cambria Lane, Goldsboro was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Gross was taken before a magistrate and placed in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
