Stolen U-Haul Recovered In Smithfield
SMITHFIELD — A stolen U-Haul truck was recovered in Smithfield, and the alleged driver was arrested on multiple charges, according to the Smithfield Police Department.

Police said officers received a FLOCK camera alert indicating the presence of a stolen vehicle. With assistance from the Selma Police Department, officers located the stolen 2025 Chevrolet U-Haul near the Carolina Premium Outlets on Outlet Center Drive around 2:22 p.m. Feb. 17.
Leslie Maurice Bufford (also known as Leslie Maurice Buford), 35, of Stancil Road, Angier, was taken into custody at the scene.
During the arrest, officers reportedly found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Bufford was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to an arrest report, he was also served with a probation violation warrant that had been issued Feb. 16.
He was held under a $25,000 secured bond.
The stolen U-Haul was towed from the scene.
