A manager at a Smithfield store has been arrested on embezzlement charges.
On Wednesday, Smithfield Police arrested 24 year-old Adam William Driver of Kershaw Lane, Clayton for embezzling nearly $40,000 from Under Armour, located at 1025 Industrial Park Drive in Smithfield.
Police Captain R.K. Powell said company officials noticed discrepancies at the store and upon investigating allegedly learned Driver had been giving unauthorized discounts to customers at the store dating back to January 2015. Authorities said Driver did not have the authority to give customers the discounts, which totaled $39,323.19.
Driver was charged with felony embezzlement. He was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
