Store Manager Assaulted By Disgruntled Customer, Police Say

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police said a store manager was assaulted by a customer. It happened May 25th at Citi Trends at 721 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.

A 25 year-old female employee reported to police an unknown male customer got into an argument over the price of merchandise. The suspect picked a sign up from the counter and held it as if he was about to strike the employee. The customer then grabbed at the worker, pulled her hair, and jumped on the counter.

The employee called 911. The suspect fled before police arrived.

The employee suffered minor injuries during the assault. Smithfield Police are still investigating the incident and attempting to identify the suspect.
