A Smithfield home has been deemed unsafe after a storm caused a large tree limb to crash down onto the roof.
It happened as storms moved through the area around 11 o’clock Sunday night.
A resident at 305 South Seventh Street called 911 after hearing the loud crash. The resident, who was confined to a wheelchair, said they were in the living room when they heard a gust of wind then the loud crash. The limb broke through the roof and ceiling and into the victim’s bedroom where he about to enter.
The resident, who didn’t want to be identified, said the old tree was at least 100 years old. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the victim with a place to stay. Photos by John Payne
