Motorists in Benson will be forced to use a detour this week. The Town of Benson contracted with a company to repair a storm drain that runs beneath McDonald’s and Taco Bell.
To make the improvements, the 100 block of South Dunn Street, between Main Street and East Parrish Drive, will be closed weather permitting beginning today (Monday) and continuing until next Monday, April 11th.
Detour signs will be in place.
Truck traffic will be diverted to Market Street and Highway 301.
If necessary, Benson Police will station an officer to direct traffic during peak travel times of 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Truck Traffic Routes
Inbound truck traffic will be turned left onto South Market Street, and go to Chicopee Road, where they can turn right or left, depending on their destination.
Outbound truck traffic from AVINTIV will be turned left onto Chicopee Road, left onto Hwy. 301 South, and left onto Hodges Chapel Road, where they can access I-95.
Outbound truck traffic from Food Lion, Pizza Hut, etc will be turned left onto Harnett Street/Chicopee Road, and travel to Hwy. 301 South, where they can turn right or left, depending on their next destination.
