Storms Down Trees, Cause Power Outages

Heavy wind and rain caused power outages and traffic delays in parts of Johnston County on Monday afternoon.

The Stancil’s Chapel area suffered numerous downed trees and power lines down.

Highway  42 East was closed after a tree brought down active lines belonging to Wake Electric.  The lines remained active and sparking for some time, preventing firefighters from removing a tree which blocked part of Highway 42 near Highway 222.  Traffic was diverted for about an hour until power crews arrived.
