Student Arrested On Obscenity Charge

Jakob-Joseph-Hildreth-FIA South Johnston High student was arrested Wednesday after authorities were tipped off about a photo he allegedly posted online.

A teacher at South Johnston High alerted a school resource officer after being made aware of a sexually-related photo of a female student that had been placed on a social media site.

Deputies identified the student who posted the photo as 16 year-old Jakob Joseph Hildreth of Railroad Road, Benson.  Hildreth was charged with dissemination of obscene materials.

Detective Lt. Don Pate said the inappropriate photo had been taken down from the social media site but officials were given a screen shot of the posting before it was removed. The victim was 15 years old when the photo was taken but is now 16.

Hildreth was given a $10,000 bond on the felony charge.
