SELMA – Following a unanimous vote, Susan Watson has been appointed to the Selma Town Council. Mrs. Watson will fill out the unexpired term of Bruce McKay. McKay won election in 2021 but stepped down from his council seat earlier this year when he move out of town.
A total of six people applied for the vacant seat including Watson, Ruth Ray, Rich Nixon, Don Barker, Shaundrette Watson, and Troy LaPlante.
Mrs. Watson served as a Princeton Town Commissioner from 2018 to 2020 before moving to Selma.
“I am looking forward to serving in my hometown. Selma is growing. It is wonderful to go uptown on Saturday morning and see shops open and cars lining the street. I hope to help keep this growth moving in the right direction,” Watson said in an email.
She will take her oath of office at the December meeting of the Selma town council. She will serve out the remainder of McKay’s term, ending in 2025.
