Surveillance camera footage helped Johnston County deputies arrest a suspect who stole from a Selma-area church this week.
Members of the Inglesia Pentecostal Church contacted deputies Wednesday afternoon after discovering a license plate had been stolen off their van while it was parked outside the church at 1508 Bizzell Grove Church Road. The theft was captured on security cameras. Officers developed information on a suspect and went to the individuals home and reportedly found the stolen license plate on his vehicle.
Oscar Ortiz, 24, of Blueberry Drive, Selma was charged with misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen property. He was given a $3,500 bond on the two charges.
