Suspect Accused Of Trading Stolen Gun For Narcotics

A suspect in the theft of a firearm from a Clayton area home reportedly told officers he traded the stolen gun for cocaine.

David Lee Walters, 36, of the 2800 block of Polenta Road was arrested December 16th.  Earlier this month, the victim reported a revolver had been stolen from their nightstand.  The victim told deputies Walters was living in the home at the time of the theft.  Walters allegedly told officers he was at work when the theft occurred. During their investigation, deputies reportedly determined Walters was unemployed and he later confessed to taking the gun and trading it for narcotics.

Walters was charged with three felonies: larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and obtaining property by false pretenses.  Bail was set at $25,000.

At last report, the stolen gun had not been located.
