Suspect Captured After High Speed Chase And Crash

CLAYTON –  A 27 year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after leading Johnston County deputies on a high speed chase.  It started on NC Highway 42 near Thanksgiving Fire Road.

A deputy sheriff stopped a car for speeding 65mph in a 55mph zone.  The officer approached the vehicle and reportedly detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car.  The deputy asked the driver to exit his vehicle and stand in front of his patrol car while the officer ran his driver’s license information.

The suspect ran back to his car, jumped in, and sped away.  The deputy pursued the vehicle on NC 42 towards Clayton, at times reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The suspect wrecked while traveling on NC 42 near Neuse River Parkway.  The driver ran from his wrecked car into a nearby business where he was captured with the assistance of Clayton Police and a sheriff’s office K-9.

Sashcre Atlanta Greaves, of E. Webber Lane, Clayton was charged with several offenses including fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, and reckless driving. He was held on a $50,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.

The vehicle was seized under the NC Run and Done law.

  1. Another high speed chase, one that could have killed an innocent civilian or a LEO. You stupid shmucks, DON’T RUN! You are going to make things even worse than they already are and you are NOT going to get away and you might even get Murder added to the list. WOW! I don’t get it?
