Suspect Charged With Breaking Into Vacant House

An alert neighbor helped Johnston County deputies catch a burglary suspect.  On Jan. 20th around 4:00pm, deputies responded to a call from a concerned neighbor reporting suspicious activity at a vacant home on Cleveland Road not far from Highway 42.

Deputies arrived and located 41 year-old Robert Steven Carlin of Piney Grove Road, Angier nearby.  Carlin allegedly claimed he had knocked on the entry door at the vacant home and it opened.  Officers allegedly found Carlin’s personal belongings inside the home, including empty beer cans and suspected heroin.

Carlin was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony possession of heroin.  The suspect was given a $5,000 bond.
