GOLDSBORO – Police announced the arrest of a suspect on murder and child abuse charges today (Friday). Umoja Jihad Bryant, 32, of Goldsboro was arrested without incident by the Goldsboro Police Department.
Around 2:55pm Thursday, a deceased female juvenile was take by an individual to the emergency department at UNC Health Wayne. It was initially reported the victim was five, but it was later determined the victim was 4 years-old. An autopsy performed Friday determined the child died from “multiple blunt force trauma.”
During the police investigation, a second juvenile victim was discovered with multiple injuries. He was taken to UNC Health Wayne and received treatment before being released. The second victim is a 5-year-old male that lives in the same home as the female victim.
Umoja Bryant was developed as a suspect and was subsequently charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of felony child abuse in the death of the 4-year-old girl. Bryant was also charged with one count of felony child abuse for the injuries inflicted on the 5-year-old boy.
Bryant was arrested without incident by the Goldsboro Police. He is being held without bond on the murder charge, plus an additional $1 million bond on the two child abuse charges. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday, March 6.
No further information was released, including the relationship between the suspect and children. The names of the children was also not released.

Simple solution. Instant death penalty. No 4 or 5 year old should ever be intentionally injured, assaulted, murdered at the hands of a monster like this. Little kids think the “boogie man” hides under their bed.
