SMITHFIELD – Police detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with a sexual assault.
Xavier Elam Hyman, age 20, of Garner, NC was arrested February 21 by Smithfield Police and charged with second-degree forcible rape.
Hyman is alleged by police to have assaulted a female acquaintance on February 15 at an apartment complex on NC Highway 210 in the Smithfield city limits.
Police said the teenage victim was among several people at a gathering when she was allegedly raped.
Hyman turned himself in at the Smithfield Police Department to be served with the warrant.
