SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting this morning (Tuesday) at a home in the 2200 block of Swift Creek Road just outside the Smithfield city limits.
Around 8:00am, a suspect was allegedly shot while trying to break into a home. The individual was transported to WakeMed for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Numerous law enforcement officers responded to the scene and crime scene tape was placed around a portion of the property.
The investigation is ongoing. A sheriff’s office spokesperson said more details would be released when possible.
