Suspect Sought In Convenience Store Robbery

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has released images of a man they say robbed the Shell convenience store on Highway 42 at Interstate 40 in the Cleveland community.

It happened around 7:00pm Sunday.  The lone white male is seen in surveillance video parking a minivan outside the store then going inside. He approaches the counter and asks the clerk for Newport cigarettes. When the clerk turns back around with the cigarettes the man implies he has a weapon and says, “I’ll take all the money.”

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash along with one pack of Newport cigarettes. He fled in the minivan in an unknown direction of travel.

No weapon was ever displayed during the robbery.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6 foot 1 weighing 210 pounds.
