Suspect Wanted For Clothing Thefts At Stores In Clayton, Smithfield

Clayton Police are looking for a man who stole clothes from shops in Clayton and Smithfield on Saturday.

Around 4 pm Saturday, the suspect collected several pairs of women’s blue jeans and ran out of Maurice’s at 933 Towne Center Blvd. in Clayton.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-5-inch tall Hispanic man with a thin build. After running from the store, he got into what appeared to be a black, four-door Chevrolet Cavalier with red stripes on the back. A driver was waiting for the thief outside of Maurice’s, and they quickly sped away from the store.

About 45 minutes later the same suspect made off with an arm full of shirts and pants from Aeropostale at 1025 Outlet Center Drive in Smithfield and also sped away in the same car.
