Suspect Who Crashed Car During High Speed Chase Apprehended Following Manhunt

KENLY – A man who led deputies on a two county chase that ended with a violent collision on Interstate 95 in Kenly this evening (Wednesday) has been apprehended.

It started when the Nash County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle on I-95. The pursuit continued southbound at times reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour.  The chase entered Johnston County, and just south of Kenly near Truck Stop Road, the fleeing driver struck another vehicle and crashed.

The suspect jumped and ran from his wrecked car and fled towards a nearby Red Roof Inn.

Following an extensive manhunt by multiple law enforcement agencies the suspect was captured about an hour later.

Southbound lanes of Interstate 95 between the 107 and 106 mile markers in Kenly have been shut down while authorities investigate the collision. Traffic is being detoured off I-95 onto Highway 301 South in Kenly.  I-95 is expected to fully reopen by 9:00pm.
