Smithfield Police have made one arrest and are looking for a second suspect in connection with two purse snatching incident last week at Carolina Premium Outlets.

On Monday, interim Police Chief Keith Powell announced the arrest of 27 year-old Brittany Elizabeth Moore of Four Oaks on a charge of conspiracy to commit larceny from a person. Moore was taken into custody at Becky’s Log Cabin in Smithfield Sunday afternoon after locating a vehicle associated with the purse snatching. She was also charged with possession of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

On August 16th, a woman reported her purse was taken from her while waiting on a bench outside the Cracker Barrel. On Thursday, a woman was loading items into her car when the same suspect fled with her purse.

Brittany-Elizabeth-Moore-FIPowell said a credit card taken in Thursday’s incident was later used at a business. Police obtained video surveillance footage from the business and identified the two suspects.

Police are still searching for 39 year-old Bobby Ray Bailey, whose last known address was on Zack’s Mill Road near Benson. He is wanted on two counts of larceny from a person.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Smithfield Police Detective Wheeler at 919-989-1089 or the Smithfield Police Tip Line at 919-989-8835.

A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at the outlet center Sunday afternoon, but Chief Powell said the incident is probably not connected to the two purse snatchings.
