Police in Smithfield are investigating a snatch and grab robbery reported Saturday night at the Levis Outlet store on Outlet Center Drive.
Around 8:20pm, a person walked into the store pretending to shop for merchandise.
The individual approached a display rack near the front door. The suspect grabbed a quantity of clothing items from the display and fled out the front door.
A vehicle was waiting near the entrance for the suspect. Police said an eyewitness wrote down the license plate number on the vehicle but the tag was fictitious.
Captain R. Sheppard said the suspects got away with 27 shorts and 39 shirts valued at $2,500.
No arrests have been made.
