The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in solving a counterfeit currency investigation.  Last Friday, two suspects passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the Medicap Pharmacy at 127 Mast Drive, near the I-40 / NC 42 interchange.  Afterwards they went to a nearby Little Caesar’s where they attempted to pass another counterfeit $20 but were not successful.

That same day they passed fake $20 bill at Walgreens at 12530 Cleveland Road, according to Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell.

Authorities believe they are also responsible for attempting to pass a bogus $20 bill at The Grocery Bag on Highway 42 at Buffalo Road east of Clayton on May 3rd, Caldwell said.

There may be additional locations the suspects have attempted to pass the bogus bills and any business should report the incident.

The male suspect in the surveillance image is accompanied by a white female in her 40’s, with short strawberry-blonde hair. They were operating a black Volkswagen Jetta or Passat with a sunroof and a front license plate with the words “Jersey Girl.”

Anyone who has any information on the suspects or vehicle is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.  Callers do not have to give their identity.
