A suspicious fire damaged an East Smithfield home on Tuesday.
The Smithfield Fire Department responded to a call shortly after 9:00am reporting a fire at 804 Midway Street. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, which caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the interior of the home.
Smithfield Police and the Johnston County Fire Marshal are jointly investigating the fire. On Wednesday, police said the blaze was suspicious and could be arson.
