SMITHFIELD – Emergency crews responded to the Probation and Parole office on Berkshire Road in Smithfield this morning (Thursday). Around 8:00am, the driver of a black SUV accidentally drove over the sidewalk and struck the front of the building.
Fortunately, no one inside was injured. The driver was evaluated at the scene by EMS but not transported to the hospital.
Johnston County Building Inspections responded and inspected the damage. The office was allowed to remain open.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Smithfield Police.
