The driver of a Buick SUV was seriously injured after colliding with a dump truck Thursday afternoon outside of Selma.
The two vehicle collision was reported shortly after 3:00pm on Highway 96 North at Live Oak Church Road.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, the Buick SUV was traveling southbound on Highway 96 and turned into the path of the dump truck which was traveling north.
The SUV driver had to be cut out of the wreckage by crews from the Thanksgiving Fire Department. A Johnston County EMS ambulance rushed the driver to the trauma center at Wake Med in Raleigh.
The dump truck driver was not injured.
Highway 96 was shut down until wreckers could tow away both vehicles.
