An SUV slammed into a tree Monday night seriously injuring the driver.
The crash was reported around 8:00pm in the 6000 block of Highway 42 West. The SUV ran off the roadway striking the tree and trapping the driver in the mangled wreckage.
The Cleveland Fire Department used the jaws of life to cut the victim from the vehicle. He was rushed by 50-210 EMS to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Authorities are investigating whether a medical condition played a role in the accident. No other vehicles were involved.
