Teachers Hit The Court Against Harlem Wizards In Fundraiser Game
SMITHFIELD — A night of basketball, comedy, and community spirit is coming to Johnston County as the world-famous Harlem Wizards visit Smithfield for a special exhibition game benefiting local education.
The Harlem Wizards will face off against the JoCo AllStars on Monday, Feb. 9, at Smithfield-Selma High School in a family-friendly event hosted in partnership with the Johnston County Education Foundation. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Known nationwide for their high-energy performances, the Harlem Wizards combine impressive athletic ability with entertaining tricks, interactive humor, and crowd participation. The team has built a reputation for delivering unforgettable experiences for fans of all ages while promoting positive messages centered on teamwork, education, and community involvement.
Their opponents, the JoCo AllStars, are a homegrown team made up of teachers, principals, and support staff from Johnston County Public Schools. The AllStars are coached by Johnston County Board of Education member Lyn Andrews and will be representing schools across the district on the court.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Johnston County Education Foundation, which supports innovative programs and opportunities for students and educators throughout the county. In the weeks leading up to the game, the foundation plans to share previews of the JoCo AllStars roster and tips for attending the event through its social media channels.
Organizers say the game is designed to be more than just basketball, offering an evening of entertainment that brings families, students, and educators together for a good cause.
