Teen Charged With Providing Alcohol To 14 Year-Old

A 16-year-old Raleigh girl is charged with underage drinking and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after she and a 14-year-old boy were reportedly discovered drinking alcohol in a Clayton park Monday.

Clayton Police responded to Clayton Community Park on Amelia Church Road after someone called 911. The 911 caller reported that a young man was worried about his female friend who had been drinking and needed help.

The officer arrived at the park and quickly located the two teens. The 14-year-old allegedly explained that his female friend had been drinking alcohol after a break-up with her boyfriend and had offered him vodka.

According to the officer, the 16-year-old was unsteady on her feet, slurring words and had the odor of alcohol on her breath.

Clayton Police called the parents of both teens, who came to the park.

Sarah Jones was arrested charged with underage drinking. Breathalyzer results showed she had a .18 BAC (Blood Alcohol Content).

For giving alcohol to her 14-year-old friend, she was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

At the jail, a marijuana pipe was found inside a plastic bag with .03 grams of marijuana in her purse, so she was further cited for drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession.
