Teen Killed In Erwin Shooting

ERWIN – A 16 year-old was shot and killed Tuesday night. The Erwin Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of West M Street at 10:17pm for a report of shots being fired. Before police arrived, they were notified there was a gunshot victim in the same area.

The male victim was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police Chief Jonathan Johnson said an investigation is underway and the death is being treated as a homicide. Chief Johnson said detectives are following up on leads and the shooting is not believed to be a random act of violence.

At last report, no suspect has been apprehended.
